The hospital system (which can also be used at out-patient and private clinics) is based on an eight-electrode belt for diagnosis and monitoring purposes. It provides an impedance evaluation of each of the lungs, together with cardiac output and stroke volume estimation. A one-lead electrocardiogram is also provided as an output. These indicators provide the physician the essential information regarding the pulmonary edema state and the heart functionality.
